Setup Mail and Web Hosting
Setting up a Customer
(If the customer doesn't already exist)
- Log into Plesk in your browser
- To set up mail hosting, visit https://www.web-server-01.com:8443/
- To set up web hosting, visit https://www.web-server-02.com:8443/
- On the left hand pane, under “Hosting Services”, click on “Customers”
- Click "Add a Customer"
- Enter correct details in "Contact Name", "E-mail Address", "Company Name" and "Phone Number"
- Change the country to Australia
- Type in a username and password: (e.g. lingotours) - (e.g. Lt736397#)
- the username is the domain name
- first two characters are the initials of the company name, the following 6 characters are the last 6 digits of the company’s phone number BACKWARDS, the final character is a special character.
- if the company’s name comprises three or more words, then the first three characters are the initials
- if the company name is just one word, then the first three letters of that word are used
- the first character is always an uppercase letter, the next one or two are lowercase
- Check the "Create Subscription..." box
- Type in the "Domain Name"
- Type in the previously used username and password and repeat password
- Make sure "Service Plan" is on "CMS Default Hosting"
- Check "Proceed to customising..."
- Click "OK"
Setting up a Subscription
- If the required Disk Space / Traffic is more than the defaulted value change "Disk Space" and "Traffic"
- IMPORTANT – select the Subscription's "Expiration Date"
- If it is set before the 20th of the current month, make the expiry date the first day of the current month of the following year. (e.g. If domain is created on the 19th July 2010, then set the expiry date to be 1st July 2011)
- If it is after the 20th then set it to the first day of the month after of the following year (e.g. If domain is created on the 25th July 2010, then set the expiry date to be 1st August 2011)
- Click "OK"
Changing Provider
- On the left hand pane, under “Hosting Services”, click on “Customers”
- Check the checkbox for the correct customer
- Click "Move To"
- Select the reseller's name
- Click "OK"
Creating a Domain Alias
- On the left hand pane, under "Hosting Services", click on "Subscriptions"
- Locate the customer's domain name and click on it to open the subscription
- Click “Add Domain Alias”
- Enter the domain alias name without the www.
- Tick all the boxes below unless specified
- If creating a domain alias for web hosting, uncheck "Redirect with the HTTP 301 code"
- Click “OK”
Adding Plesk SSL Certificate
- Log into the web hosting server (usally - https://www.web-server-02.com:8443/)
- On the left hand pane, under "Hosting Services", click on "Subscriptions".
- Locate the customer's domain name and click on it to open the subscription.
- Click "Let's Encrypt"
- Under the Email address field, enter webmaster@inology.au
- Ensure "Include the "www" subdomain for the domain and each selected alias" is ticked.
- Click "Install"
- Go to the website.
- Locate the Login/Administration page, and log in as an admin.
- At the top of the page, hover over System Configuration, and click "Configure Website"
- Tick the field "HTTPS Everywhere".
- Click "Submit"
Adding Mail Accounts
- Ensure that you are working on the Mail Server (https://www.web-server-01.com:8443/)
- On the left hand pane, under "Hosting Services", click on "Subscriptions"
- Locate the customer's domain name and click on it to open the subscription
- Click the "Mail" tab
- Click "Create Email Address"
- Enter name under "Email Address"
- Uncheck "
- Enter the previously used password
- If there are any Email Alias's, go to the "Email Aliases" tab and enter the name (click "Add email alias" if there are more than one)
- Go to the "Spam Filter" tab and uncheck "Switch on spam filtering for this email address"
- Click "OK"
